The Organization

Starr Albion Prep, a Sequel Youth & Family Services program, is a residential treatment facility serving a diverse population of boys and girls 12-17 on the beautiful campus of Starr Commonwealth in Albion Michigan. We continue the great work that Floyd Starr started over 100 years ago, using strength based group and individual treatment approaches to help struggling youth reach their full potential.

To Be Successful As a Youth Counselor

A successful Youth Counselor must be energetic, charismatic, empathetic, possess strong relationship building skills, be consistent, exercise great judgment in crisis and possess above average problem solving ability. Most of all, they need enjoy spending time with young people and possess the ability to find the strengths in those that have made mistakes.

  • Starting Salary: $10.90 - $11.77 per hour

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • Previous work/volunteer experience with juveniles preferred.

  • Current Michigan Driver?s License in good standing.

  • Must pass a Physical exam, Drug test and TB test and Criminal Background Check.

  • Must pass Safe Crisis Management training at time of hire and re-certification annually.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
